Ice Skating Now Available Close to Rosewood Pointe!

Sunday, December 27th, 2009

Hooray! The local township has decided to erect a public ice skating rink this year.

“The township had considered a rink for years and decided to try it this year at the Ottawa County Fairgrounds, 1286 Ottawa Beach Road west of 152nd Avenue.”

That’s just 2.3 miles away from Rosewood Pointe. Here is a map:

Fish cleaning station in Holland Michigan

Friday, May 1st, 2009

We have a small table for cleaning fish at the resort, but we don’t have a grinder. Thus, it’s the responsibility of the fishermen and women to bag the fish remains and dispose of them accordingly. However, there is now an alternative available just three miles down the road.

After many years of planning, a new, free, public fish cleaning station is being built on the north side of Lake Macatawa in Holland, Michigan. Scheduled completion date is late May, and it is expected to cost $158,000.

The site is located across the street from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources boat launch and west of Anchorage Marina, 1800 Ottawa Beach Road. The fish cleaning station will be operated and maintained by Holland State Park and will be available to all visitors.

The 20-foot-by-20-foot building will include four cleaning stations and a $20,000 grinder — a device that emulsifies fish remains so they can be handled by the local sewer system. Local tradesmen and material suppliers are donating time and items to the construction of the station.

Construction is planned to begin when the frost is out of the ground this coming April and completed by the end of May, 2009.

Here are some renderings of the proposed building:

Tulip Time 2009 – May 2-9, 2009

Saturday, March 21st, 2009

Rosewood Pointe is a great spot to stay if you are coming to Holland for Tulip Time. The resort is just two miles from downtown Holland and you can watch the fireworks from our beach and docks. The adventurous sort could easily walk to downtown and not have to bother with all the traffic.

Or you could drive part way and park at in any of the old Pfizer parking lots off Hoard Ave. Then you just have a short 1/2 mile walk into downtown Holland. Or could drive all the way and possibly park at the Holland Civic Center parking lot, that might work too.

Either way, Rosewood Pointe still has 3 units remaining for the May 1-3 weekend and more availability during the week. Don’t miss the millions of tulips in bloom all around the city. It’s a great family event with wonderful parades and lots of great food to eat.
